Monday Thoughts….and DONATE for a Great Cause….

After a busy, birthday partying, dinner with the sisters and family,  rainy but fun weekend, this Monday morning is quiet and gloriously cool and beautiful. After all the cloudiness, rain, and humidity in middle Tennessee in August, today brings a nice respite.  I’m enjoying the weather and the gentle reminders of life.

I’m babysitting these two cuties today –

I wanted to share something with our Nashville area friends:  As I mentioned in a blog two years ago, our crazy, Godly, funny, story-telling, Gospel preaching, loving pastor David Landrith lost his fight with melanoma in November, 2014, and there will be a walk in his honor on October 1st.  If you’re like me, you’ve probably lost someone dear to you (both my parents) with that terrible disease – CANCER.  Please read the post written by his daughter below and participate or donate!

Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday.

Not Another Manic Monday……

I’m loving our Middle Tennessee weather this morning – it’s much cooler, breezy and sunny – even though clouds and rain are predicted to roll in this afternoon. So thankful for quiet time on my porch on this peaceful Monday morning. Hope it’s peaceful for you as well!

Thought I’d share before and after pictures of my screen porch.  It isn’t new, but thanks to my hard-working daughter and a pressure washer, it looks pretty shiny and new this morning!

The first picture shows the deck before with photobomb compliments of sweet Mason. The next pictures show the new railing from the ground up and the existing deck after the wall and flooring were installed separating the deck (gray flooring) from the screened porch.

Cutting the Cords…..

You need to understand – I was a child of the 50’s and 60’s during the infancy of televisions in homes.  Yes, that makes me sound (and feel) very old!

I really enjoyed watching some of these oldies as we gathered as a family around that little square box (later those sleek rectangular babies that really did bring me much joy!).  That was back in the days before we were told that parents and children should talk to each other at night.  Both of my parents worked hard all day and it was such a nice time,  while after dinner as they read the newspaper, after we finished our homework and took our baths, to sit together, eat a little ice cream, and laugh at other families like Ozzie and Harriett’s and Robert Young’s.

Please don’t judge me, but it brings me to my obesession/addiction to tv over the years!  Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s all the violence that takes my focus off the One in control, maybe I’m just tired of all the political junk going on, but with a fairly moderate Comcast plan with about a million channels at my fingertips, I’m having such a hard time finding anything valuable to watch anymore.  Yep, I’m sounding more like an old foggy as I type.

So, as part of that intentional living I’m striving for, I’ve decided to cut the cords  — goodbye tv (s).   Goodbye sweet “frenemy”…….I’ll just ponder all the fun things I’ll do instead!

Enjoying Home,

Linda
