Christmas, Christmas trees

I Have a Split Personality……

…….well, not really me – it’s my house!  It’s a difficult decision – when to decorate for Christmas. In the grand scheme of things – poverty, wars, the status of the world, etc., notwithstanding – it isn’t all that difficult!  But in the Linda world, it is!  Let me explain:  for the past almost 20 years I’ve had a Cookie Swap party for friends and family the first weekend in December so I usually decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.  This year I got a jump start and started bringing down the little trees last weekend.  This past weekend I put up the big tree in the living room and dining room. So, while you see this:

I know, I know – my Mama taught me better! I hear all the ranting about jumping from Halloween to Christmas – what happens to poor Thanksgiving!?! In my defense, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving at my house, we do that somewhere else, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s decorated or not. Working all week just gives me the weekend to decorate, thus, I need the extra time.

So, I’ll just happily decorate as I please. If you’ll notice, when I said I put up the trees, I DID NOT say that I decorated them! Me and my home will just go ahead another week or so with pumpkins and straw outside while decking the halls inside! Having a split personality isn’t the worst thing in the world, is it!?

Enjoying Home,

Linda

Fall, leaves, projects, woods

November already?!?

This year is really clicking right on by!  My holidays are colliding with one another and this is the season when everything is a blur – from October through New Year’s Day, it’s hard to get through one season or holiday before getting into the next. I went to my quick stop, they have almost everything – Dollar Store – to look for some fall leaves, and right there next to the ghost and goblins were the Christmas decorations! In the mix and chaos of holiday “almagamation” though, I found some little black candle holders, intended for Halloween, that I could use on the chest inside my front door because of the color: image So, for two-three dollars each, I can use these all year long. One little project that I’ve been working on was finished for Thanksgiving.  A cheap frame, some scrap book paper and print the caption – image I took advantage of a recent storm to pick up twigs from my yard to add some nature – this is a cheap and easy way to decorate for fall! image imageSo, if you’re like me, just hang on, slow down and just try to enjoy the ride!  I personally try to take in the beauties of each season and enjoy them as they arrive. image image Enjoying Home!
