Did I Mention That I Love Projects?

As long as I can remember, I’ve loved working on little projects at home. This is the third home I’ve owned since I sold our family home after the “BigD”. I’ve probably painted or papered (back when few walls escaped wallpaper) every single wall in every house!  So, I know a little bit about projects…and I’m in hog heaven when I’m working on them. Poor Sarah has taken over the painting mantle in this house because my knees don’t climb ladders as easily anymore – plus ten-foot ceilings are too much for this mama!

I digress-on to the next project. The guest bedroom:

The little white wood frames hold pictures from a Mermaid Cottages calendar I bought last year. The blue willow ware on the left were my mother’s and one I picked up somewhere along the years.

The blue paisley duvet cover came from a trial in the master, but I decided I wanted calmer and softer in there.

This little secretary was purchased at an antique mall because I was looking for storage pieces and this reminded me that my mother always liked secretaries. She had in mind a tall, cherry one but this was perfect for my small place and it reminds me of her every time I’m in that room.

Of course, it needs a tv!

I have baby pictures, old dolls, a little rocker that was mine – OLD! – and dollhouse in this room. I consider this the “Girls’ Room” and Carrie usually claims this when they spend the night Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The curtains are a top sheet from Walmart because I wanted a light and beachy look in there.

Now, the project – I’d really like to cover the headboard. It’s an off-white basic linen headboard and I’d like a more custom look. I tried some fabric that I already had:

I don’t like the color in the stripe with the paint, but I like the soft, subtle stripe. I may look for a blue ticking and see how that works. I think the fabric needs more body too, so I’ll let you know if I find it.

All for now, I hope you have a great week and enjoyed the little tour.

Enjoying Home!

  1. You are so talented. If you ever decide to give up molding “little” minds, you could be an interior decorator. Merilyn
